About David
David is a current student at DIU pursuing an MA in Applied Linguistics. He grew up overseas in Bangladesh, where his parents were development workers. That ignited a passion for serving underserved people in the farthest reaches of the globe. God gave him a desire to spend his life in cross-cultural service from the time he first started thinking about a career. His first interest was in medical work, but in his undergrad a visiting professor of linguistics from DIU suggested that he consider going into translation. Though he had always been interested in linguistics, he thought it would only be a hobby. But he took her advice and now plans on spending his life serving remote, impoverished communities through both medicine and translation. He plans to attend medical school following his graduation from DIU.
David is reflexively drawn to care for people who are hurting physically, emotionally, and spiritually, who have been deprived of the full life God created them for, and to work for their healing. Through medicine, he can address physical pain, and through linguistics, he can address the pain that minority cultures experience through marginalization and discrimination.
