Selecting a Database
Database Selection FAQ
Are you researching in a specific subject?
Using the chart above, select a database that covers your topic.
Do you have a general topic and want to search for articles or books?
For journal articles, search Academic Search Complete. For books, journal titles and other formats, try WorldCat on the FirstSearch platform . You can limit your search to a specific format: books, journals (serial publications), computer files, internet resources, etc.
Do you need full-text articles, now?
Look on those databases which offer selected full-text (Academic Search Complete, ATLA, Communication Source, ERIC and the Religion and Philosophy Collection).
Do you need an article from a journal or a book which Dallas International does not have?
Put in an Interlibrary Loan request via WorldCat or complete either the Library’s Interlibrary Loan Book Request Form or the Interlibrary Loan Photocopy Request Form.
