About Amy
Amy completed her Master of Fine Arts in Dance at The Ohio State University with a concentration in directing from Labanotation score in 2008. Amy reconstructed Fred Berk’s 1953 “Holiday in Israel” from Lucy Venable’s 1977 score and wrote a thesis on the significance of Israeli folk dance in cultural identity. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from OSU in Theatre with Distinction for her project and thesis “Let’s Have a Dance… The Significance of Social Dance in Shakespeare.” Amy has participated in the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem’s Feast of Tabernacles celebration both on and off stage and has taught modern and ballet technique at Charisma Centre for the Arts and ballroom at the Gahanna YMCA and Fred Astaire Dance Studios. She is an annual guest lecturer in dance analysis and notation at the Dallas International University and is a free-lance dance videographer and editor. Amy is blissfully married to Matthew Schmidt and mother of David and Eleanor.
