1 Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights above. 2 Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his heavenly hosts. 3 Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars. 4 Praise him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies. (Psalm 148:1-4)
Yesterday was a spiritual vacation for our school as we entered God’s presence for an entire Day of Prayer. In the morning we enjoyed various prayer stations around the Event Center. I took a walk around the ILC circle stopping along the way to read Scripture, pray and especially…listen. What was God telling me? His message was instantaneous. Add two more (personal) day of prayers to my calendar, so I did; I marked my own Day of Prayer for spring and another for summer. While I was reading Psalm 148, from Moments of Solitude, I remembered a song written by a high school friend of mine based on those verses. We played it as worship in a band together-I still get goosebumps remembering how fervent and passionate we were for all things related to God as teenagers. I relived that fervor while in prayer yesterday morning-an awesome time of worship and thanksgiving.
Thank you to our Chaplaincy department and all the volunteers who made Day of Prayer an amazing time. Your incredible preparation was a sacrifice of praise, and you did such a good job in guiding us in our prayer time, both personal and corporately. This was a highlight of our semester!
